Portfolio
My portfolio is divided into several categories
Latest
My most recent work, including a portfolio of work on light painting undertaken in the New Forest earlier this year. I have been wanting to try my hand at light painting for some time and after a bit of research it seemed like the New forest would be a good place to experiment. Just getting to my location carrying 38kg of kit - on my own - was a feat! After some exposure tests, all the shots you see were pretty much first takes from ideas I'd formulated before. Also includes a couple of Infra Red shots.
Landscapes
Atmospheric views primarily of the UK countryside taken with my Phase One P25+, incorporating various techniques I find satisfying, such as ultra long exposures (20 minutes plus), moving the camera during exposure, using shallow depth of field and identifying the unusual. I have also included black and white shots taken with my infra red converted Olympus E3.
Urban
Views of buildings or man made structures that have caught my eye, particularly power stations (which is an ongoing project) and often at night. As as well as the more dramatic lighting at night I can use ultra long exposures either to capture movement or just get the best possible file quality.
Abstract
Close ups of natural scenes photographed in isolation from their surroundings, as well as using long exposures to blur. I have also included another ongoing project, photographs of incense smoke lit by coloured flash and enhanced digitally
iPhone
'The best camera is the one that's with you' Chase Jarvis, a philosophy I wholeheartedly agree with. Since owning the iPhone 4, which has the best quality camera of any mobile phone in my opinion, I have built up a portfolio of quirky and unusual shots that I would other wise have missed because I didn't have a camera with me! The quality of these files shouldn't be underestimated and are easily good enough for A2 enlargements at a normal viewing distance.
